One-day workshop where students will be using Masa paper (oriental paper) with just watercolor and no wax to create a batik look. The Masa will be glued to the watercolor paper for extra support. It is a lot of fun seeing the results because you actually damage the Masa paper making creases and wrinkles which will take the watercolor differently, thus the batik look.

I like the results with flowers but it will work with any subject that is simple with not a lot of detail work. I will be demonstrating large blossoms.

Supply List

* Regular watercolor supplies you normally use (paints and brushes)

* Watercolor Paper Arches #140 pound Sheet Cold press or any brand that is #140 pound cold press (I would suggest working on a half sheet 15 x 22 “)

* Paper towels

* Water containers (2) Large butter dish size will work fine

* Table cover and drop cloth

* #2 pencilor technical pencil

* Drawing of a large flower or grouping to fit 15 x 22” size

* Reference photo of your flower drawing

* Sketch pad and /or notebook

* Art Board for support

* Elmers glue (NOT school glue) or gloss/matt medium to glue masa paper down on WC paper
