Pet Portrait Workshop
John Keeling will share his process for creating watercolor pet portraits, including the initial sketch, first washes, development of features, and final details. You will explore both textured and non-textured surfaces and learn the advantages of each. Bring a photo of your favorite pet so that you can create a portrait that will become a keepsake.

Watercolor pigments
- Lemon Yellow

Paper or Board
- 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper or Block (8x10, 9x12 or 11x14)
- Strathmore Multimedia Board-500 Series (8x10 or 11x14)
Brushes
- “Round” watercolor brush, size 7 or 8, that comes to a nice point
- 1” Mop or larger Round (size 10 or 12) for laying in washes
- Rigger (or small round for fine details)
Pens
- Brown Sakura Pigma Micron (01, 05 sizes)
Pencils
- Standard 2B pencils are fine.
- Also get softer leads (4B, 6B or 8B)
