Paint-In with Bridgett Kasten
Bridgett Kasten, a watercolor artist currently based in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, spent a significant chapter of her art career in Houston, Texas. While in Houston, she served as a board member of the Watercolor Art Society–Houston. Also, she served on the board of MSW for 2 years as PR coordinator. Bridgett is actively competed in various watercolor competitions and was recognized with awards for her work. Now, she brings that experience to her students, guiding them through the magic of watercolor painting.

MATERIALS
We will be painting a vignette called “Blue Ginger Jar and Vase” approximately 9” x 12”.
Paper
- Arches 156 lb Cold Pressed
- You may also use:
- Arches 140 lb CP
- Arches 300 lb CP
I personally prefer 300 lb Cold Pressed, but please feel free to use whichever paper you are most comfortable painting on.
If you are using anything less than 300 lb paper, please tape your paper down securely on all four sides to a board (plastic signage board, gator board, varnished plywood, etc.).
Supplies
- Masking tape
(I use Scotch 3M Brand – 1/2”)
- Pebeo, Holbein, or your preferred masking fluid
- Ruling pen or your preferred masking fluid applicator
- Rubber cement pick-up
- Eradicator / Scrubber
- Paper towels
- Chambered water bucket
- Bring all of your watercolor brushes and pigments
IMPORTANT
Please come to class with:
- Your drawing completed
- All masking fluid applied
- Ready to paint
Pigments
I will be using the following pigments in this painting. Please do not feel obligated to purchase these pigments if you do not already own them. You may substitute with comparable colors from your palette, or we can share pigments during class.
