What to Expect:

 

  • Intro, talk about how Madison got started with rock pigments and where she finds them
  • Show & tell with rocks – pass them around
  • Demonstrate breaking & crushing with mortar/pestle
  • Show & tell how she washes the pigments to make finer paints
  • Talk about how she makes the binder, pass around the sample of whole gum Arabic tears
  • Demonstrate mulling whole rock pigment to make a textured paint
  • Allow anyone who wants to do so to experience the mulling and panning the paint
  • Make enough paint so that everyone can take home one pan (if time allows)
  • LUNCH

  • Paint-in Painting with Ozark pigments
  • Bring your own photo of a simple woodland scene
  • or paint along with with Madison as she paints a cabin in the woods from her imagination

 

Supply list participants need to bring:

  • Paper
  • Brushes
  • Setup -easel, towels, wash cups, etc.
  • Their own paints if they want to use them or mix with Ozark pigments
