Participants will paint three 9" x 12" demo paintings along with David Paul. Drawings will be provided, to be transferred on to the participant's watercolor paper. Participants will also spend 45 minutes viewing David's sketchbook and nature journals. WHAT I HAVE LEARNED IN MY FIRST 23 YEARS OF TEACHING WATERCOLOR 1. We see too much. Paint a winter landscape in the simple East Asian style. (about 60 minutes) 2. We paint for the wall. View Watercolor Journals and other "off the walls" approaches. (abt 30 min.) 3. We paint the mundane. Paint an iconic Arkansas landscape. (about 60 minutes) 4. We look but we do not see. View nature living within 3 blocks of home. (abt 15 min.) 5. We shun mixed media. Paint "The Jetty," by Paul Signac. (about 90 minutes) Participants need only bring their usual watercolor supplies and gear. Their current palette of colors will be sufficient. A drop-cloth is recommended to protect table tops and floors. Please do NOT photograph David Paul's art work. Examples of copyrighted completed paintings will be provided to participants for workshop use. Suggested Donation of 10.00
